As we live in an era where everything appears to be mobile based, it perhaps should not come as a surprise that more and more websites are arguably becoming more and more redundant.

Of course, many websites are still viewed on web browsers by those that use computers and their mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, however those particular gadgets have seen such an increase in technological advances in recent years that all people need are apps these days.

With apps providing users with experiences that are rather easy to use and all from the touch of the button, many have turned to these instead of using traditional methods. Indeed, many will look to do online shopping via a business’ dedicated app, whilst bettors can play casino games on mobile without having to load up a number of web pages.

There are a number of reasons as to why apps have essentially made websites appear to be more and more redundant in recent times, though, and these are just some of the reasons as to why they have:

Mobile apps make things more personalised

A mobile app has the ability to improve the overall user experience by making it a little more personal than a traditional website can. For instance, a mobile app will allow users to set and configure their settings, thus allowing them to be shown what they want to see as soon as it is opened, rather than having to continue from the beginning each time they use a website.

This can help companies achieve more sales or conversions, as users may feel more likely to purchase something after feeling as though the experience has been made personal, whilst the apps also work in helping to provide information about locations.

Mobile phones and tablets are used more than traditional computer devices

One of the main reasons as to why apps are starting to make traditional websites become rather redundant for some companies is down to the fact that behaviours and attitudes are changing.

Indeed, as mentioned briefly earlier, many are now turning to using their mobile phones and tablet devices in the same way that they would have previously been using their traditional computing devices. It could be argued that many only use a traditional desktop or laptop for work and then switch to their smartphone or tablet when it comes to all other tasks and downtime.

There are figures to back up the fact that more and more people are using apps on their mobiles, as well, compared to traditional mobile websites. According to data that has been analysed and produced, it is claimed that 86% of mobile users will spend their time on their device looking at mobile apps, whilst just 14% of those will be using mobile websites.

Furthermore, it is claimed that users will spend more than 90% of their overall mobile time on an app, rather than spending time on a mobile website. Admittedly, many of the apps that have been provided will likely be down to social media and gaming apps, but they would have all been on traditional websites at one point.

In-app notifications

Whilst many will still continue to send methods of communication and promotions via the use of an email, there is no denying that the newest and best way to communicate with potential customers is via an in-built notification.

This method can be considered less intrusive than other forms of marketing and promotion, whilst they can also be personalised in an easier way, as well. Furthermore, there are a number of different ways in which these work with in-app and push notifications both available for businesses to explore.

With most of the world’s population continuing to be glued to their gadgets, these notifications have a better chance of reaching a consumer than emails do in the modern era, as emails can be deleted without even been looked at.

Fresh look

The way that a mobile app can appear can make things even more appealing than a traditional website for many businesses, as they will have the freedom to truly create what they want to achieve.

A website will generally have to follow a specific layout that can be hard to follow and keep a design to, whereas an application does not have those particular constraints. Again, an element of personalisation can be used within an app, thus providing users with a potentially more favourable feeling.

Apps are faster

Speed and convenience is something that we all want in the mobile era and apps certainly help to make us achieve those aims. Apps that have been well designed will be able to run quicker than websites as they will tend to use different methods to load each page, whilst the data will be saved on the mobile device rather than using the web server.
